Dear filmmaker,

Due to the continued Covid19 crisis and the possibility that theaters will not be open in time for our annual New York City Horror Film Festival (NYCHFF), we have made the difficult decision to go virtual this year. We would’ve  preferred to have the festival take place in the theatres like the past 17 years, however; until our local and state government feels it’s safe, like other festivals, we were left with no choice but to find an alternative platform.

We hope that you will still consider submitting your film to NYCHFF. In keeping with the legacy that our founder established, we fully intend to utilize this platform to its fullest potential. It’s our endeavor to showcase your film and make this virtual experience exciting to all participants.   One major advantage of using this platform is that your film will have a wider and diverse audience.

For filmmakers, we are planning to have virtual workshops as a sort of virtual meet-up and networking sessions.  We are also in discussion with a distribution company to have a focus workshop on distribution among other things.  Finally, because we value your participation and feedback, we would like to know what you would like to see as a fan of this festival.

Please let us know your decision within the week on whether you choose to continue the submission process. For any questions about the virtual festival you can send an email to, or .  For any questions regarding your film please send an email to

Thank you and keep safe.
